Parish Life
Our PARISH LIFE Ministry plans and organizes fellowship and hospitality ministries for our parish and community. We believe that relationships are created and supported through a spirit of total and complete welcome to all who present themselves.
Our Parish Life committee supports several ministries within the parish that bring us closer together with each other and with our community.

Sunday Morning “Coffee Hour”
On Sunday mornings following our worship service, we offer hospitality to our members and visitors. Our “Coffee Hour” is more than just coffee and pastries, it’s a time to meet fellow seekers, get to know new and old faces, make appointments with clergy and staff, and to continue the joy that we receive in the Holy Eucharist.
Dinners for Eight
Each month we also organize an ad hoc “Dinner for Eight” for our parish, where eight people gather together for dinner on a Saturday evening at the home of one of our parishioners. These dinners are meant to encourage community and come with no agenda, only that you eat, drink, and be merry in the name of the Lord! Dinners are held monthly and are on a “sign up” basis, which means that you sign up each month that you are able to attend. Look for sign up sheets at church on Sunday, or contact us to sign up for an upcoming dinner.
Annual Parish Retreat
Each year our Parish takes a weekend away to celebrate the many gifts that God has given to us, to rest, to breathe, and to contemplate the call of the Holy Spirit for us as individuals and for us a parish family. This time away is traditionally held at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs, Virginia.
What is Shrine Mont?? Shrine Mont is a place where people are more important than things, where prayer and reflection, rest and recreation are more important than appointments and tasks.
It’s a place where people give thanks to God for his creation-from the beauty of the streams, flowers and wildlife which are at home here, to the people who come to this place to celebrate being part of the family of God. Shrine Mont is also home to the Diocese of Virginia’s Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration, an open-air cathedral of the Diocese of Virginia.
All are invited to attend, and registration forms are generally available in August each year. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your long lost cousin!
When is the retreat held? Our traditional weekend for the parish retreat is on Columbus Day weekend in October. This year, the retreat begins on Friday evening, October 9th and ends at lunchtime on Sunday, October 11th.
