Children’s Education

Sunday School

The Falls Church Episcopal offers a vibrant Sunday School program that designed to encourage and enliven the faith formation of all children.

  • Young children ages 2-3 are invited from 10 to 11 a.m. to participate in a loving experience of learning about God in Room 206.
  • Four and five year olds are invited to a time of stories, music, games, and crafts in room 201.
  • Children in kindergarten – 5th grade meet downstairs in Memorial Hall each Sunday at 10:15 a.m. for Sunday School and then join their parents at 11: 00 a.m to prepare for worship in the Loft.

Classes for this age group are organized around the Workshop Rotation Model using biblically based lessons that help children experience each Sunday’s lesson using a fun and interactive workshop format. Workshops rotate from Sunday to Sunday and include workshops in:  drama and storytelling; cooking; music and movement; and arts and crafts.

The theme for the 2009-2010 school year is an archaeological adventure we are calling ‘The Big Dig’ in which children participate each Sunday as biblical explorers taking treks each week that help them to ‘dig more deeply’ into our understanding of God’s Power and Might.

Middle School and High School Christian Education

Middle School and High School Youth participate in Christian Education each Sunday Morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. as an part of the youth community of The Falls Church Episcopal and the Falls Church Presbyterian Church.

6th and 7th graders: Meet in Room 301 at 10:00 a.m. This year’s focus this year is on relationships – with God, family, friends and the world. Books, documentaries, movies and field trips help guide discussions.

9th – 12th Graders: Meet in High School Youth’s open space on the 3rd Floor where they explore the gospel and the world in some fairly untraditional ways.
