Worship
Our Worship Ministry is responsible for leading worship for the congregation. Everything from Candles to Sermons is coordinated together with the help of our priests and laity. It is our intention to include people of all ages in the leadership of worship, and opportunities exist for young and old alike in areas such as Acolytes, Altar Guild, Eucharistic Ministers and more. Read on to see where you might help to lead!
Acolytes
Acolytes carry the crosses, torches and banners in processions, and assist at the altar, adding beauty and meaning to the congregation’s experience of the service and liturgy. At TFCE we encourage both youth and adult acolytes. If you are interested in being an acolyte, please contact Mr. Bill Forester or Mr. Jason Matechak.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild serves the congregation’s worship by preparing the Altar and Loft for all services. The Altar Guild is also responsible for the flowers, for the care and repair of Eucharistic vessels, altar, brass, linens and hangings. The Altar Guild serves on a rotating basis, with each member serving about once per month. If you are interested, please contact Ms. Sally Cook.
Lay Readers and Chalice Bearers
Lay readers and Chalice Bearers are leaders of our congregational worship. They read the lessons, conduct the prayers, prepare the altar, and serve the chalice. Service as a Lay Reader can lead to a deeper understanding of the liturgy and traditions of the Church, a greater knowledge of the scriptures, and service as a Chalice Bearer can lead to a deeper appreciation of the mystery of the Eucharist. Training happens several times a year. Contact: The Rev. Michael Pipkin for more information.
Ushers
Ushers are key to making TFCE a friendly and reverent place to worship God. They prepare the Loft for services, greet and seat worshipers, collect the offering and straighten up the sanctuary after services. Traditionally, the Vestry coordinates and serves as the primary Ushers for Sunday, but they are always looking for good volunteers. If you are interested in serving in this ministry of hospitality, contact Mr. Jason Matechek.
