Art and Architecture of the Early Church

(Sarah Liberatore, 1st Sundays)

Sarah will examine the history of Christian art tracing church architecture to its Roman roots while exploring the changing image of Jesus from young shepherd to Pantocrator or “ruler of all.”

Blessings as a form of Spiritual Practice. (Cathy Tibbetts, 2nd Sundays)

This will be a 2-part series with the first session looking at the history and use of blessings in the church; and the second will be on the art and craft of creating blessings as part of a personal spiritual practice.

Tolstoy and Christianity (Matt Rhodes, 3rd Sundays)

This series will explore how Christianity plays a role in literature and short stories. Come see how Tolstoy’s works connect to religion and spirituality.

Spiritual Journeys (Bob McCan, 4th Sundays)

Come learn about some of your fellow parishioners spiritual journeys. How have they come to this point in their lives as Christians? Who are some of the people who make up the Falls Church Episcopal?

Wednesday Book Group

Re-Claiming the Bible for a Non-Religious World:
Mad Fox Brewery, 444 W. Broad Street, Falls Church
Continues through February 29
7:30-8:30 p.m.

Matt Rhodes, Sarah Liberatore and Chris Mattis (Sarah’s brother) will lead a discussion of the newest book by Episcopal Bishop John Shelby Spong. Entitled Re-Claiming the Bible for a Non-Religious World (available at local bookstores or online at Amazon.com), the book explores the current academic debate about the Bible, traces the pathway that biblical religion has traveled through its centuries-long evolution, and shows how people have misused many of these texts in the service of their prejudices.
